EMINENCE, KENTUCKY DECEMBER 5, 2007
SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
The City Council of the City of Eminence, Kentucky met in a special session on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at the Eminence City Hall Council Chambers with Mayor Jim Petitt and the following members present: Danny Meadows, Treva Browning, Shawn Bright, Drane Stephens, Richard Thomas, and George Armstrong. Absent were none. Other individuals present were Jerry Clark, Jean Thomas, Attorney William Brammell, City Clerk Sandra Doane, Police Chief Carey Duncan and Police Officer Rodney Hawkins.
The purpose of the meeting being called was to review, discuss and hold a first reading of a revised occupational/net profits ordinance and to discuss and decide on a request for a Christmas donation for kids from the Eminence Family Resource and Youth Services Center.
Pledge of allegiance and moment of silence held.
Mayor Petitt called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Subject: Occupational/Net Profits Ordinance - Mayor Petitt reviewed the requirement that all cities adopt a uniform occupational/net profits ordinance. Our revised ordinance per this requirement has been reviewed by the committee with some changes being made and is ready for full council review. Attorney Brammell held the first reading of a summary of the occupational/net profits ordinance. Council was asked to review and read the entire ordinance prior to the next reading on Monday night, December 10, 2007.
Subject: Christmas Donation for Kids – The request for a Christmas donation for kids from the Eminence Family Resource and Youth Services Center was discussed. Motion made by Member Meadows and seconded by Member Armstrong to authorize spending a total of $200.00 toward items for the Christmas for Kids. All members present voted “Yea”. Member Bright offered to pick up some lists from the Resource and Youth Services Center and do the shopping for the kids. Member Meadows suggested that next year instead of having an employee Christmas Dinner that we use that money toward the kids in the community. Mayor Petitt stated he stills feels something should be done to appreciate the employees each year.
With no further business to be discussed, motion made by Member Bright and seconded by Member Stephens to adjourn. All members present voted “Yea”. Meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
