EMINENCE, KENTUCKY APRIL 26, 2006
SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
The City Council of the City of Eminence, Kentucky met in a special called session on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. with Mayor Doug Bates and the following members present: Kevin Harris, Howard Roberts, Tom Ferguson, and Leeroy Winburn. Absent were Members Laura Whitney and Drane Stephens. Also in attendance were City Clerk Sandra Doane, Attorney William Brammell, and Brooke Melville with the Henry County Local.
The purpose of the special meeting being called was to discuss and hold the second reading of the amendment to the ordinance establishing the compensation for Council Members and Mayor; to review the cleaning bids and award the contract; and to discuss and hold a first reading of an amendment to the City/County Zoning Ordinance.
Mayor Bates called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.
Subject: Ordinance Establishing the Compensation for Council Members & Mayor – Attorney Brammell held the second reading of an amendment to the ordinance establishing the compensation for Council Members and Mayor. Discussion held by council. Motion made by Member Winburn and seconded by Member Ferguson to adopt the ordinance as read establishing the compensation for the Mayor at $18,000.00 per year and the compensation for the Council at $3,800.00 per year, both effective January 1, 2007. On a call of vote by Mayor Bates, voting “Yea” were Members Roberts, Ferguson and Winburn. Voting “Nay” was Member Harris. Motion carried.
Subject: Cleaning Contract – The bid prices received for the cleaning at City Hall and the Police Department were reviewed and discussed. Motion made by Member Harris to accept the bid from Annette’s Cleaning Service based on the price of $50.00 per week at each location, the added value of waxing and buffing the floors quarterly at no additional cost and shampooing of carpets as needed at no additional cost and based upon her references. Motion seconded by Member Ferguson. On a call of vote by Mayor Bates, voting “Yea” were Members Harris, Ferguson and Winburn. Voting “Nay” was Member Roberts. Motion carried.
Subject: Zoning Ordinance Amendment – Attorney Brammell reviewed a proposed zoning ordinance amendment to Section 770 with Council. This amendment was originally proposed with two other sections and was recorded incorrectly that all three sections were amended. This ordinance will correct that mistake. Attorney Brammell held the first reading of an ordinance amending Section 770 of the County/City Zoning Ordinance.
With no further business to be discussed, motion made by Member Harris and seconded by Member Roberts to adjourn. All members present voted “Yea”. Meeting adjourned at 6:47 p.m.
